FAQs

  • What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art focused on grappling and ground fighting. It teaches how to control and submit an opponent using techniques such as joint locks and chokeholds, emphasizing leverage and technique over strength.

  • What should I wear to my first class?

For your first class, wear comfortable athletic clothing, like a t-shirt and shorts without zippers or pockets.

We practice Gi & No-Gi here at Eternal BJJ, so for Gi classes, you will need to purchase a Gi after your free week trial.

We have academy gear available for purchase.

  • Do I need any experience?

There is no previous experience needed! The movements and techniques will be taught to best suit you. We have programs for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.

You don't need to be in peak physical condition to start BJJ. Our classes cater to all fitness levels, and you'll naturally improve your conditioning as you progress.

  • Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu safe?

BJJ is designed to be a safe and controlled martial art, with techniques that allow participants to practice at various levels of intensity. Our instructors prioritize safety, ensuring that all students practice in a responsible and controlled environment.

  • What is the difference between Gi and No-Gi?

In Gi Classes, you wear a gi. In No-Gi, you don’t.

In Gi Jiu Jitsu, the uniform is a fundamental piece of most techniques and movements.

No-Gi Jiu Jitsu, on the other hand, more closely resembles wrestling as it is often faster paced and places emphasis on speed rather than leverage
